Agriculture: The Commission approves new Protected Geographical Indication from Italy

The Commission has approved today the addition of a new product to the quality register of Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). From Italy, “Patata del Fucino” is a ripe potato of the Solanum Tuberosum species which must be planted, grown and harvested in the area of the bed of Lake Fucino.

Patata del Fucino’s skin does not separate from its flesh, which makes it suitable for both household consumption and industrial use. The new denomination will be added to the list of over 1,330 products already protected.
